On September 19th and New Beginnings

▹ Spanish version

Many of you know I come from the audiovisual world, but few know that photography has been a quiet constant in my life—a refuge that has always accompanied me. A year ago, I unexpectedly traveled to Chile due to a family situation that shook my life—one of those events that forces you to reconsider your priorities and how you’re living. I suppose that situation, which I won’t go into out of privacy, was not only a turning point for my family but also for me.

In just one lap, the rider and their most skilled, swift horse win the race. The adrenaline felt in those few minutes is indescribable.

Drawn by memories of Chilean horse races, the last of which I’d seen more than 10 years ago, I decided to take a stroll through El Llano de Pullally in an attempt to adjust to the time difference. When I arrived, it felt like a journey back in time: everything seemed the same… or almost. The crowd, traditional games, music, the smell of “asados” (barbecue), and that unique atmosphere that comes alive in Chile during the national holidays.

I must admit that what began as a pause in the middle of chaos turned into a moment of reconnection. There, surrounded by that familiar environment, I once again felt the heartbeat of my roots and the value of small moments. The people of El Llano welcomed me with such kindness that each moment became etched not only in my memory but also in my photographs.

That September 19th was far more significant than I could have imagined; it was the starting point for what is now LENANESS, a heartfelt project dedicated to capturing the authentic and the unexpected. LENANESS is a tribute to my “brujitas,” my personal way of affectionately referring to the most important women in my life, and to everything it means to be present, the present and its possibilities.

I invite you to explore my photographs at www.lenaness.com. Although a few details are still being finalized, I’m thrilled to share my work.

Sending a big hug,
Marge
